Thanks for visiting the Lombards Fine Furniture Blog. This post is all about our tour of the Harden Furniture Factory. If you’ve ever wondered about furniture manufacturing, this story will intrigue you! Check it out!

We learned so much on the Harden Factory Tour.  This is a classic 167 year old American company located in McConnellsville, New York, just outside of Syracuse.  Harden is now on it’s fifth generation of family ownership.

While the picture quality isn’t great, this was the most shocking part of the tour.  Of course I knew furniture was made out of wood, but to see huge trees coming into the plant blew me away.

Harden was “green” well before it was hip. They have always harvested trees on their company-owned land, and they manage 10,000 acres of woodland in Upstate New York. Harden also maintains an on-site Forestry Division and adheres to environmentally sound principles and practices such as the use of proven silviculture methods.

Another point that stood out as I walked through the plant was the hand craftsmanship and attention to detail that went into each piece of furniture.

When we wrapped up the tour we had lunch with Greg Harden’s wife, Laura.  I was surprised to learn that the big white house on the hill overlooking the factory was their house.  It was built 100 years ago by Greg’s great-grandfather.

Harden Furniture is beautiful, high quality furniture made in America. You have to see it to believe it. Come in to Lombards to learn more about Harden Furniture today.
